REGULATORY BODIES (ONTARIO)

OMVIC (Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council)

The regulator of motor vehicle sales in Ontario. They enforce the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act (MVDA). Contact them to file a formal complaint regarding deceptive sales practices, failure to disclose material facts, or unprofessional conduct by a dealer.


CAMVAP (Canadian Motor Vehicle Arbitration Plan)

A private arbitration program that resolves disputes about manufacturing defects and warranty administration. CAMVAP can order a manufacturer to buy back a vehicle. However, they cannot award other damages.

CONSUMER RIGHTS & LEGAL

Consumer Protection Ontario (Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery)

Enforces the Consumer Protection Act, 2002 (CPA). They provide advice on your statutory right to cancel a contract.


Ontario Superior Court of Justice (Small Claims Court)

The judicial venue for civil disputes up to $50,000. If mediation fails, this is where you file a "Plaintiff's Claim" for damages, restitution, and contract rescission.

The federal department responsible for road safety regulations. If your vehicle experiences a safety-critical failure (e.g., power loss while driving), you should report it here immediately. They can issue recalls.
